As per usual, the 2024 edition sold out, once again in a record time of 4.9 hours. Announced bands included Amon Amarth, Scorpions & Blind Guardian.

With a full capacity of around 85,000 people and a festival site that stretches over 240 hectares, as well as links to nearby villages (including the one that the festival takes its name from), Wacken's proclamation to be the world's biggest heavy metal festival has an undeniable truth to it.

You can take a subway from Charing Cross station to Wacken Open Air via Euston station, London St Pancras Intl, Brussel-Zuid / Bruxelles-Midi, Köln Hbf, Hamburg Hbf, Itzehoe, Itzehoe Viktoriastraße/Bahnhof, and Wacken Mühlenweg in around 13h 20m.

The new pipeline will carry about 400,000 liters (105,000 gallons) of beer through the grounds of Wacken Open Air Festival in northern Germany. The 75,000 metal fans who attend the event each year consume an average of about 5.1 liters of beer over the three-day festival, according to the statistics portal Statista.

Donauinselfest, or the Danube Island Festival, regularly attracts more than 2 million festival-goers. Attendance across the three days reached 3.3 million in 2015, earning it the title of "largest attendance at a music festival", according to Guinness World Records.

About 75,000 people are expected to descend on Donington Park over the weekend, with Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold as the headline acts. Long-time friends Janey Noble and Rae Taggart said the festival is special because "there's no judgement" and it has a "friendly vibe".
