Figler, 82, of Upper Mountain Road. Lockport, died Wednesday (May 10, 1989) in Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston. A native of Buffalo, the former Veronica Lukaszewski lived in Niagara Falls for 48 years. She and her husband, John Figler, operated a dry-cleaning store during the 1940s and 1950s on Niagara Street near Third Street.
Her husband died in 1960. Mrs. Figler was one of the first people to move into Wrobel Towers when that apartment building was opened on Niagara Avenue. She moved to the Mount View Health Facility in Lockport five years ago. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Armentrout; a brother, Joseph Lukaszewski of Freedom; a sister.

Martindale, 70, of Perrysburg, a retired Gowanda Psychiatric Center employee and a past president of the center's employees association, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Perrysburg-Dayton United Methodist Church, Perrysburg. Martindale died Thursday (May 11, 1989) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, after a long illness. Burial will be in the Collins Center Cemetery on Route 39. Monday in St. Mark's AME Zion Church, 108 Dona Lackawanna. Wright, an Amherst resident the last two years, died Tuesday (May 9, 1989) in Veterans Hospital after a long illness. He will be buried in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Gardenville.
Employed by Bethlehem Steel Co. as a laborer, Wright retired in 1971 after more than 30 years with the firm. Born in Stanton, he moved to Lackawanna with his family when he was 3. He was a graduate of Lackawanna High School. A musician and singer, he played drums with the Lackawanna Senior High School Band and later with the Lucky Swingsters Band and the Ottis Bank Trio.
He sang with the Johnson Male Chorus, a Buffalo singing group, as well as the Men's Choir, Mass Choir and Zion Chorus at St. Mark's Church. Active at St. Mark's and its Sunday School, Wright was a member of the Stewards Board and a life member of the WHOM group. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Joppa Lodge 27 and the Knights of Templar.
As a youth, Wright served as an altar boy for the late Monsignor Nelson A. Baker in Our Lady of Victory Basilica. Wright is survived by wife, the former Alzora Glover; two daughters, Priscilla of Getzville and Elaine; two brothers, William and Henry; two sisters, Mary Singletary of Lackawanna and Margaret. and two grandchildren. Tomko, 42, died Wednesday (May 10, 1989) in St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, after an illness of several months. The former Susanne Kindt was born in Easton July 30, 1946. She and her family lived in the Buffalo area when she was a student. Mrs.
Tomko graduated from Bryant and Stratton and Orchard Park High School. She married William M. Tomko Dec. 28, 1968. Mrs.
Tomko was a benefits administrator for James River Corp. in Milford, N.J., from 1985 to 1988. Before that, she was benefits coordinator for Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem, for 12 years. Surviving are her husband, of Easton; a daughter, Stefanie L. of Easton; a son, Bryan P.

Mary Margaret Russell Holy Angels Academy alumnae gathered Thursday night to honor the memory volunteer school worker and longtime, telephone company supervisor Mary Margaret Russell, 65, who died March 31, 1989, in Philadelphia.
Miss Russell, who worked 38 years for New York Telephone Co. here before retiring in 1983, was stricken while attending a Philadelphia-area religious retreat with her twin sister, Sister John Patrick Russell of Holy Angels. Miss Russell died in St. Mary's Hospital, Langhorne, Pa. A native of North Buffalo, she was a graduate of School 64, Holy Angels Academy and D'Youville College, where she earned a degree in business administration in 1945.
After graduation, she joined the telephone company, serving as a business representative for five years and then as supervisor of the Kenmore business office until her retirement. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Buffalo, and worked daily in the Holy Angels Academy alumnae development office since her retirement. "They considered her one of the staff, and she helped me with fund-raising," said Sister John Patrick, her sole survivor. Miss Russell was named as posthumous recipient of the Ruth Reinhardt Award for service to the academy, during ceremonies a at a alumnae reception Thursday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered earlier in Holy Spirit Church, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

1976 he moved to North Tonawanda, where he lived for 10 years, before moving to Akron three years ago. He worked for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. as a serviceman in Niagara Falls, Dunkirk and Buffalo for 31 years, retiring in 1975. Survivors include his wife, the former Rose I. Battaglia of Spruce Avenue, a former restaurant owner, died Thursday (May 11, 1989) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. Born in Buffalo, Battaglia, 90, lived in Niagara Falls most of his life. He operated the former Jimmy's Steak House on Falls Street from 1951 to 1958 and Vincent's Italian Restaurant on Jefferson Avenue from 1958 to 1960. He was the widower of Lottie Kaminsky Battaglia, who died in 1950.
Survivors include a son, James three brothers, Russell, Samuel and Joseph; a sister, Rosalia Sanfilipo of Buffalo, and two grandchildren. Joseph's Cemetery. Gordon W. Ballstead Private funeral services for Gordon W. Ballstead, 69, a former Buffalo resident, have been held in Vancouver, Wash. A retired teacher, Ballstead died May 3, 1989, at his Vancouver home where he had lived for about 15 years.
Earlier he had resided in the Los Angeles area for about 25 years. Born in Pembroke, Ballstead moved to Buffalo with his family as a child and lived here about 25 years. He was a graduate of Burgard Vocational High School and the Wyoming Seminary, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He held a master's degree from Columbia University, where he played football. He was also a World War II army veteran.
Ballstead is survived by a daughter, Sandra Gordon of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mary B. Wright of Rochester..
