RV Decorating Ideas for Outside (2024)

If you go camping in an RV of some sort you may be looking for camper decorating ideas to make your space a little more fun. While there are plenty of ways you can decorate your RV indoors, today we are going to focus on RV decorating ideas for outside.

When you park your RV you may forget that even though you don’t have a deck attached to it, (unless you have a permanent RV set up in a campground that you’ve built a porch onto) it doesn’t mean you can’t use the space in front as a spruced up living space.

The biggest thing to remember when camping in an RV is that anything you use for a setup outdoors, you want it to be easy to pack up and move around from location to location. Less is often more. The other way to make a more efficient use of your things are to use things you can use in your RV AND outside. This is a cheaper option as well.

Speaking of “cheaper,” it doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg to decorate your outdoor RV living space. Be sure to check out thrift stores and dollar stores before you spend too much money on what you are looking for. There’s even online yard sale sites you can try.

Since getting our rig a year ago I am always looking for travel trailer decorating ideas, but it doesn’t matter if you have a travel trailer or a motorhome or a campervan, these RV patio ideas will work for any home on wheels!

An outdoor RV mat makes your outdoor space look neat and tidy, along with making it a better surface to place your chairs. It’s also a great place for people to keep their shoes if you want to have people take them off before coming into the RV.

Solar lights for any kind of camping are a must! Not only are they pretty, but they are functional too when it’s pitch black out. My last string of solar lights I purchased at the dollar store, so there’s no need to worry about spending a ton of money on them. However, if you want something a little more higher end you can try these ones on Amazon.

Chairs for the front area of your RV make for a perfect place to lounge. These can be as simple as some camping chairs which fold up really well and fit nicely into tighter spots, or you can get something a little more fancy. Either way, you will want chairs for outside your RV.

This picture below is of inside the RV, but you can use these bunting garlands for outside as well. I love the look of the bunting indoors AND outdoors!

Think you can’t really decorate for the holidays if you are in a trailer? Think again! Some evergreen garland and even a little tree are a gorgeous addition when out on the road. If you use real evergreen you can dispose of it once you are done with the holidays instead of packing it up and finding storage for your holiday items.

CAMPER DECORATING IDEAS

Of course, there is no right or wrong way to decorate your space, indoors AND outdoors. You are only limited by your imagination! You can add fresh flowers outdoors, a little table to have your morning coffee at, or some curtains or a privacy screen.

Decorating your space outdoors makes it a little more homey no matter where you go. Add your personal touch on your camping space, no matter what kind of rig it is.

Decorating your area also depends on how much work you want to put into it. Some people gut their whole trailers, and redo the outside too. You might want to go big or go home with your decorating. But if that’s not you that’s okay too. If you are happy to toss a mat out and a camping chair and call it good, then that’s what you should do.

RV CAMPSITE DECORATING IDEAS SHOULD REFLECT YOUR STYLE

I am not an expert on anything decor-wise, but I truly believe there’s really one rule that is more important than them all when it comes to decorating ANYTHING, including your trailer. Do YOU like it? Too many times I see people asking on social media if other people like their space they’ve decorated. When other people speak up and say parts they don’t, they go and change it all to suit the needs of someone else, even if they loved what they did to decorate it.

The truth is, not everyone is going to like your style. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that YOU like it. That’s it. If you do, then you know you’ve decorated it the right way. So, when it comes to finding RV campsite decorating ideas, remember to use the ideas that reflect your style and get rid of the rest.
