This last, unexpected trip has raised our 2023 Chevy High Country Dually mileage to 10,700 miles. Over them miles it averaged 15 MPG.

On my quick/expedited trip back to MI. 5-10 miles over the speed limit. It got to Dad's house with a 17.2 MPG.

About a 3rd of them 10,700 miles is hauling our 34' Vintage trailer & average 9 MPG when towing.

As I have stated after buying the truck, I didn't buy it for the MPG.

51,000+ views with only a couple drama post from Mike Rietow & Head Games on the 1st page. That being said, not too many threads that get this many views without Major Drama!

I've been wanting to do something with exterior of the 80 Camaro; I need to stop procrastinating & decide on a wrap or paint. I have a couple of people that can paint it, but the car would be down for about a year. I think a wrap would be a quicker way to get it done, but I have to research & find someone.

I have thought about updating & racing the orange 68 Camaro, but my friend doesn't want to put any money into it. He just wants to sell it & that will be a hard sell the way it's.

Almost 5K miles on our stupid 2023 GMC Crew Cab 3500HD gasoline dually, that will never be built, or purchased for less than sticker price, gets almost exactly the same numbers.

8.2 to 9.2 towing, depending on speed, 17+ empty, town driving.
I have only put a few miles on it empty.

I'm glad you are happy with your truck!

I got more truck than I wanted with the High Country package, didn't have much choice. What I really wanted & absolutely love is the 900+ ft. lbs. of torque & the Allison transmission.

I decided on painting the car over a wrap, thanks to Mom & Dad; R.I.P.!

I also plan on finishing the interior. The only thing that's needed is door panels. I'm leaning towards factory panels, but not ruling out black aluminum panels.

Using the Tow / Haul mode pretty much does that.
It'll roll at 1800 on flat ground, shifts itself to about 2200 through slight up grades. 68 mph.

Finally got an estimate for body work & paint on the car. Looks like we are getting it in May & they said roughly two months. We thought about changing colors, but decided to keep it good old GM Victory Red.

Now the hard part is giving up racing while it's in for the work! They did schedule 2 races in June & 1 race in July.

I ended up going from 2nd place in points to 5th by not racing the 2 races in June. The July race I borrowed a car & made the semi-finals. That moved me up to 4th. I have the last 2 points races the end of Sept. & hope to move up to 3rd.

Here's the latest update on the Camaro. We put it in the body & paint shop early May. The pic below was taken yesterday & doesn't do the paint justice. There is still some black painting to be done on the headlight/marker light bezels, the upper & lower grill. We are putting the factory upper grill back in.

All the window trim, door handles & locks got powder coated black.

All the rubber seals were removed & getting new replacements.

The driver's door window & regulator is replaced with new.

I have to go in next Tues. to install the electronics & ECU. They had to do some welding. Then the plan is to pick the car up on Thursday.

Thanks guys!

In hindsight, I shouldn't have put on the fiberglass front-end. Although they have it straight with a lot of man-hrs.! I don't like how I needed to cut the rear lower fenders. This was done so I could remove & install the front-end by myself. The edges of the hood had to be cut off to fit on the front-end flush. It weakened the hood considerably & made it a 2 person deal to remove/install.

The hood was bowed up in the center in the pic because we are ordering black anodized dzus fasteners & we only had a couple old fasteners installed.

As for the holes in the upper grill; we had them in the lower also when testing the new motor. I absolutely hate them, but we didn't have enough timing in the motor & it caused it to run warmer than I like. I bought a replacement lower grill, but it will fit so the lower will get blacked out. The upper will get blacked out & install the original grill. I will probably have to black out the aluminum radiator to help camouflage that upper grill area.

We have decals ordered for the headlight/marker lights. The old front pic shows what the headlight decals look like & the overall look we are shooting for.

You're absolutely correct! Our car is my office, it's a work workhorse as it has always been. Thanks for the compliment.

This paint job & other things being done is way over the top. The functionality of my car has always been 1st & foremost of my priorities. I owe it to our car for this needed make over. The car has always taken care of me & other driver's (family); it has been way over due to give it some payback!

I've been blessed with great sponsorship most of my racing years. Been able to roll our winnings back into the car. What all the before didn't cover, I worked hard & invested wisely. The last 20 years I've been able to pay for my racing & support with cash.

Our car is part of the family & I finally realized it need to be taken care of in other ways.

The old car certainly deserves to look much better than the old factory paint, it's getting a little thin.

I have right around 38 years with our Camaro, same as you! Daily driver to race only.

I've thought about a dragster but can't see myself driving a pipe rack. I really would like a factory racecar! The COPO is out of the range of money I would like to spend. While I'm not a Ford fan, a Cobra Jet is a little easier on the back pocket. Probably stick with the old workhorse, it fits like a glove & works well.
