Muffins make a fantastic breakfast! They are quick and easy to make, easily portable, freeze like a dream, and the flavors are endless. From classics like banana and blueberry to savory options and hearty morning glory, there is a muffin here for everyone!
Muffins are one of my favorite breakfast (and snack, and lunch) options. They are filling, fast to get on a plate, and there are flavors to please everyone (kids especially love them)!
The list below features the ten recipes that have been visited over and over again, garnering thousands of five-star reviews from readers, and are time-tested favorites. They include classic recipes like banana and blueberry, but also other creative and unique flavors that you are going to LOVE!
Before we get to the list, I’ve also rounded up all of my favorite equipment for making muffins so you can arm yourself with the best tools.
Favorite Muffin Tools
Part of making fabulous muffins is having the right tools for the job! Luckily most muffin recipes are quite simple in terms of preparation, but below are my recommendations for the best equipment for making delicious, beautiful muffins:
- Regular Muffin Pan:USA 12-Well Muffin Pan
- Mini Muffin Pan:USA 24-Well Mini Cupcake and Muffin Pan
- Liners:I usually stick toclassic white paper liners.
- All-Purpose Whisk: An 11-inch balloon whisk is perfect for any job.
- The Best Spatula: 11-inch silicone spatula
- Mixing Bowls: I love a classic mixing bowl set for various sizes.
- Carrier:Store or transport muffins in a sturdy carrier. Thiscollapsible carriercan hold 24 muffins or up to a 10-inch round cake.
Now, let’s get on to this list! I’ve been sharingmuffin recipessince 2007, and these are the ten that have risen as the best of the best and most beloved among readers. Enjoy!
Our 10 Best Muffin Recipes
10.
A hearty breakfast muffin studded with chopped dates for sweetness, dried cranberries for a little bit of tartness, and chopped pecans for a wonderful crunch.
9. Cornbread Muffins
These savory corn muffins are loaded with corn flavor and are the perfect accompaniment to chili or your favorite stew.
8. Chocolate Chip Muffins
One of my freezer staples – a super simple, sweet breakfast treat!
7. Banana Muffins
These have been a favorite of mine for nearly 20 years. It’s one of the first recipes I started baking over and over again. They’re sweet and delicious – breakfast or dessert!
6. Honey Muffins
These remind me of the fabulous honey muffins thrown into the bread basket at one of my favorite restaurants. I love them slathered with sweetened butter.
5. Morning Glory Muffins
Healthy and indulgent all at once, these fabulously hearty muffins are full of carrots, pineapple, apple, raisins, walnuts, and flavored with ground toasted coconut. Breakfast dressed up like carrot cake is something I can get behind!
4. Triple Chocolate Muffins
These chocolate muffins have cocoa powder and dark chocolate in the batter, with chocolate chips added to the batter.
3. Apple Muffins with Cinnamon-Sugar Topping
These apple-cinnamon muffins have a huge flavor thanks to apple cider and chopped apples, with a fabulous cinnamon-sugar crunch on top.
2. The Best Blueberry Muffins
These easy blueberry muffins mix together quickly for a perfect morning treat. Soft and tender from sour cream and bursting with blueberries (use fresh or frozen!), these muffins have been a long-time family favorite.
1. Raisin Bran Muffins
One of my oldest and most-loved nostalgic recipes! Raisin bran cereal (use any brand you want!) is mixed right into muffin batter and baked up into absolutely delicious muffins. I hope you’ll make a batch soon!

I think I’ll go with Honey Muffins because I am a fan of honey lately. I read how honey is a better and sweeter alternative to processed sugar, so I’m basically on a honey overdose. I have made honey muffins before and I have succeeded, so maybe that’s why I choose that one. I tried making choco chip muffins once but somehow the chips got all liquidish and not semisolid. I baked them for a little longer, I guess. Anyways, I vote for honey muffins.

Who doesn’t love muffins? they’re perfectly portioned packages of goodness. I love a good cranberry orange muffin, but now I want the allspice crumb muffin commenters are speaking of and don’t see it on the list! I’m going searching for it right now on BEB!

I made the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Streusel Muffins and they were unbelievably good! That cream cheese center perfectly complements the gently spiced muffin surrounding it. The crunch and sweetness of the streusel sends it off the charts! Good thing you called it a muffin, because I wouldn’t have made it for brunch if it had been a cupcake . . . Muffin beauty! It’s just this side of a dessert! FABULOUS!

To me, muffins are meant to be healthy…this goes back to their origins. I love a good oatmeal or bran muffin but don’t underatand chocolate muffins…they seem more like a cupcake to me. And I prefer the texture of those made with butter rather than oil.

my favourite muffin mix would be my marshmallow muffin mix (that doesn’t taste like marshmallows)
15-17 marshmallows (put in mix and melted for 1.30/2 mins until they can be mixed into a non lumpy mix)
175g – ( preferably caster) sugar
175g – margarine (melted in a microwave and mixed in)
325/350g – self raising flour
1tsp – cinnamon
1tsp – vanilla
3x – large eggs
pinch – salt
175ml – milk1) mix all gradually into a bowl (try to melt the marshmallows in to the mix in the early stages)
2) put in muffin pouches and put in oven set to standard 180 degrees Celsius
3) leave for 10-15 mins until the muffins when stabbed with a knife, the knife is clean.
4) enjoy your muffins :) -
